Born and raised in Chihuahua, Mexico, Ana’s journey brought her to Madison at the age of 7, where she quickly became immersed in her new community at Frank Allis School, now known as Nuestro Mundo. Graduating from elementary school in June 2005 as an English Learner, Ana successfully transitioned out of the English as a Second Language program by 6th grade.

With a strong commitment to education and cultural appreciation, Ana’s passion for bilingualism grew as she watched her sisters thrive at Nuestro Mundo, and she now embraces to ensure that her son would have ample opportunities as a bilingual individual. Inspired by the many benefits of being bilingual—broadening connections and enriching the mind—Ana dedicated her time to serving her community from the age of 17, working in local hospitals and assisting both Spanish and English speakers, especially during challenging times like the COVID-19 pandemic.

For Ana, language is the root of everything. It has been the foundation of her family and the key to building close connections with people in her community. Her humbleness and genuine love for her community drive her caring nature, making her eager to help others. This deep appreciation for language and her community led her to join Nuestro Mundo INC, where she actively seeks to spread awareness about the importance of bilingualism and its benefits. Ana’s desire to give back to the community that once supported her is intertwined with her commitment to empowering others through her work.

Through her advocacy, Ana has played an integral role in helping parents understand the importance and advantages of DLI. For Ana, fostering bilingualism in our children is essential. She believes parents have a responsibility to cultivate cultural appreciation and understanding, ultimately raising compassionate and empathetic individuals who can connect with diverse communities. Language has been the vital vehicle for Ana’s family, and she is dedicated to ensuring that other families have access to this enriching experience as well.
