Erika Evelyn Walker moved to Madison from Mexico City when she was 17 years old and attended East High where she began learning English as a Second Language. She holds bachelors degrees in Mathematics and Educational Studies and works as an analyst for CUNA Mutual Group where she also serves on their DEI committee. Erika Evelyn has a child who attends NMCS and joined the board of directors in the fall of 2022. 

She believes in the NMI’s goals, values and vision of creating a better future for our bilingual and bicultural students. She recognizes the importance of being part of the voice that will make a difference in the lives of children and their families and is passionate about ensuring children from marginalized and underrepresented communities are afforded opportunities to achieve success and realize their goals and aspirations.
