Tammy Pineda

Board Member

Tammy Pineda (she/her/ella) is a new member of the NMI board (2025) and excited to support the important work that makes Nuestro Mundo Community School such a meaningful experience for families. Tammy works as the Youth Services Manager for the Madison Public Library, promoting the JOY of reading (in any language!) with children and families across Madison. Before becoming a Youth Services Librarian, she worked for seven years with the MMSD Play and Learn early childhood program, as a Bilingual Resource Teacher, and as a Bilingual 4k Teacher at Henderson Elementary. Currently, Tammy is an active member of the Wisconsin State Superintendent’s Reading Advisory Council where they work to strengthen literacy learning in all of Wisconsin’s schools, and she holds a Masters in Library and Information Science from UW-Madison. Tammy has two daughters – Isabel went through Nuestro Mundo starting in 2008 and graduated with her seal of Biliteracy from LaFollette High School; and Noelia who is currently a third grader there!
